The importance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in equipping Kenyan youth with the skills needed for both local and global job markets was the key message delivered by PS TVET Dr. Esther Muoria at the Kenya-Germany Labour Migration Job Fair, Exhibition, and Conference held at Sarit Center today.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Muoria emphasized the interconnectedness of education and economic systems in fostering national progress, despite the vast differences in historical context, cultural nuances, and developmental stages between Germany and Kenya.

“The role of TVET in skilling our youth for local and international job markets cannot be overemphasized. By investing in these programs, we are laying the groundwork for economic growth and expanding opportunities for our young people,” Dr. Muoria stated.

The Job Fair, which was graced by Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection, Hon. Dr. Alfred Mutua, aimed to raise awareness about the legal processes and qualifications needed for Kenyans seeking employment opportunities in Germany. It also showcased the growing demand for skilled labor and highlighted potential pathways for Kenyan youth to access jobs abroad.

Dr. Muoria also extended her gratitude to international partners like the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) for their continued support in implementing innovative training methods, such as the Dual Training system. This approach, which combines theoretical education with practical hands-on experience, has proven to be effective in enhancing the employability of TVET graduates.

“We deeply appreciate the support of partners like GIZ, whose commitment to innovative training approaches, like Dual Training, enhances the practical skills of our youth and positions them for success both locally and internationally,” she added.

The Kenya-Germany Labour Migration Job Fair provided an essential platform for job seekers and stakeholders to engage with potential employers and learn more about opportunities in the global job market. Dr. Muoria reaffirmed her dedication to further strengthening Kenya’s TVET system to align with global workforce demands.
