Opposition leader Raila Odinga has declared the beginning of Countrywide mass action in attempts to pressure President William Ruto to respond to their demands on the rising cost of living among other reasons.

Speaking to the press at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation in Upper Hill, Nairobi, The Azimio leader accused president Ruto of “Overseeing the looting of public resources”, which, he said, has resulted in the high cost of living.

“ To restore the dignity of our people, Ruto must go,” Odinga said.

The Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya leader stated several reasons for the push to declare President Ruto’s administration “illegitimate”

He accused president Ruto of introducing policies that have led to the over-taxation of citizens.
Odinga also noted that the government’s decision to lift the ban on the importation of GMOs is not effective saying the move will affect Kenya’s economy.

He said Ruto has managed to capture the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary arms of government, thus making him a dictatorial leader.
“President Ruto is buying the legislature, influencing the supreme court and the sole executive decision maker. This is a dangerous dictator that must not be allowed even a single extra minute in the public office,” noted Odinga
The opposition chief accused some members of the current administration of grabbing public land, including in Ruai, Lang’ata, Eldoret, and Trans Nzoia.

The ODM boss further said that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is not fit to hold public office over integrity concerns.

“ Mr. Gachagua who was the district officer in Laikipia was dismissed from office in July 1997 for gross misconduct and reported mismanagement of food for Laikipia. This is a clear show of incompetence,” said Odinga
