Reclaiming Kajiado Greenery Campaign
Kajiado is known to be one of the richest counties of Kenya despite it’s predominant semi arid condition. Her people, mainly the Maasai tribe heavily engage in pastoralism, animal rearing and irrigation supported agriculture.
On Wednesday July 5th 2023, Dedan Kimathi Foundation environment conservation team in Conjuction with Roots for the Future Kajiado Youth based CBO conducted the first phase of Reclaiming Kajiado Greenery campaign. The activity saw a number of homesteads, hospitals, churches and schools benefit from 2000 assorted tree seedlings donated by the foundation in support of the campaign.
Among the beneficiaries of the day were;
Olooltepes Primary, Olooltepes Church, Oloibor Ajijik compassion, Olooltepes Hospital, Olooltepes Dispensary and Osarai Dispensery
Giving his remarks during the activity opening ceremony, Mr. Victor Solitei; Roots for the Future Youth CBO chairman and the St. Paul’s University Student’s president registered his gratitude to the Emaroro ward residents for answering the call to grow trees in Kajiado county. He urged them to set the best example to the rest of the county residents emphasizing that tree growing was no longer an option but a must practice way of life to secure the future.
Dedan Kimathi Foundation Green Army team leader Francis Karasinga assured the organizing group of the Foundation’s unwavering support to tree growing. ” It is a good thing that our people are engaging on tree planting. I beseech you all to ensure that all the trees you have received today are watered sufficiently for proper growth,” he stated.

Dedan Kimathi Foundation vows to continue supporting tree growing activities to combat climate change.
