Rigathi Gachagua: “My Only Crime Is Telling President Ruto the Truth”

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has come forward with startling revelations, claiming that his recent fallout with President William Ruto stems from his commitment to telling the President hard truths. Gachagua, who has been at the center of political speculation, alleges that his honesty and willingness to question key government policies have led to his strained relationship with the President.

Speaking candidly, the Deputy President outlined some of the issues that he believes have caused friction between him and the President. “The crime I committed is telling President William Ruto the truth,” Gachagua stated. “I told him not to evict people without compensation, I told him not to overtax Kenyans because it is killing them and their businesses.”

Gachagua also criticized the controversial housing levy, which has faced public backlash, saying he advised against forcing the program on citizens. “I told him, Mr. President, if they don’t want the housing program, don’t force them,” he revealed.

In addition to domestic policies, the Deputy President raised concerns about international deals, specifically citing the Adani deal, which has been mired in controversy. “The Adani deal was not good for the people; there is too much corruption,” Gachagua declared, pointing to his efforts to challenge the administration’s decisions on behalf of the public.

Gachagua painted a picture of an isolated Deputy President, claiming that his only fault was being truthful in a political environment where few dare to question the President’s actions. “My only problem is being truthful since nobody else can tell him the truth,” he lamented.

He further alleged that President Ruto is intent on sidelining him and replacing him with someone more compliant. “He wants me out so he can get someone he can control, someone who won’t ask questions,” Gachagua claimed, adding that his independence and outspokenness have made him a target within the government.

These explosive remarks are the latest in a series of public statements that suggest growing tensions between the two top leaders. Gachagua’s allegations have fueled political debate across the country, with observers speculating on the future of the relationship between the President and his Deputy.

The Office of the President has yet to respond to Gachagua’s claims, but the Deputy President’s frankness has raised questions about the inner workings of the current administration. As the political drama unfolds, Kenyans will be watching closely to see if these tensions will escalate further or lead to significant changes within the government.
