Rose Mugabe Distributes Sanitary Towels to Promote Menstrual Hygiene at Mapera Secondary School
During a recent school bus handover ceremony, Mrs. Rose Mugabe, the spouse of Likuyani MP Innocent Mugabe, took a significant step towards promoting menstrual hygiene among schoolgirls by distributing sanitary towels at Mapera Secondary School.
The initiative aims to address the challenges many girls face during their menstrual periods, particularly in rural areas where access to hygiene products is limited. Mrs. Mugabe emphasized the importance of proper menstrual health management, stating that access to sanitary towels not only enhances the dignity of young women but also ensures they can attend school without interruptions.
“We want to empower our girls and ensure that they can focus on their education without the worry of managing their menstrual cycles,” she said. “By providing these essential products, we hope to encourage better attendance and overall health.”
The school bus handover, which was attended by local leaders and community members, marks a significant development for Mapera Secondary School, enhancing transportation for students and promoting access to education.
Headmaster of Mapera Secondary, Mr. Mwale, expressed gratitude for the support, highlighting the positive impact on the students’ well-being and educational experience. “This initiative will help our girls feel more comfortable and confident in their studies,” he said.
Mrs. Mugabe’s efforts reflect a growing recognition of the need for comprehensive support for girls’ health and education in the community. The distribution of sanitary towels is expected to significantly benefit the girls at Mapera Secondary School, fostering an environment where they can thrive academically and personally.
