Rural Women Peace link organized a 5 KM Walk To Sensitize Residents on the Importance of Peace
Rural Women Peace link organized a 5kilometer walk to sensitize the public on the importance of peace as the County is heading to the August polls.
Speaking to the press Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Stephen Kihara who was the chief guest called on politicians to follow suit by preaching peace before, during, and after the forthcoming general elections.
“I want to thank the Rural Women Peace link for planning such an event to preach peace in this electioneering period peace to communities living in Uasin Gishu more so as we are heading to the next elections in August. We are requesting leaders to be part of what women are doing by preaching peace for us to have a peaceful election,” said the Uasin Gishu County Commissioner after flagging on the 5 Kilometer walk.
He assured residents of their security before, during, and after the forthcoming general elections saying everything is in order therefore no cause for alarm.
“I want to assure Uasin Gishu residents that their security is guaranteed and that we are set to provide security before, during, and after the general elections which are scheduled for August this year, there should not be any cause of alarm since Uasin Gishu is a peaceful County, ” says the Uasin Gishu County Commissioner.
Mary Chepkwony from Rural Woman Peace Link called on political leaders to join hands to ensure that there is peace before during
and after elections so that communities can embrace the peace that has been there for quite some time.
The event which was organized by the National and County government, NCCK, One Nation Under God was to create awareness among the people o the importance of peace.
“We want to walk and tell people Of Uasin Gishu that we want to celebrate the peace that has been there since we started the journey of peace, we are calling upon our leaders to join us to ensure there is a peace committee,” she said.
Grace Rugut says “We are having a 5k walk so that we preach peace to the citizens of Uasin Gishu, we are calling upon all the aspirants, and each religious sector to join hands together by prayer and action for the betterment of cohesion in Uasin Gishu.
