Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) from Sabatia today received various attire from County Government of Vihiga through the Department of Health Services.
While addressing the public at Sabatia Health Centre where the handover ceremony took place, Vihiga Governor Dr. Wilber Ottichilo promised to improve the volunteers’ welfare who are currently on a monthly stipend as they await passage of a bill that will recognize them as county workers.
He further averred that his government will always give priority to health care.
Sabatia CHVs become the third lot to have received the kits that comprise of umbrellas, gumboots, caps, name tags and bags after Luanda and Emuhaya sub counties whereas Hamisi and Vihiga lots are scheduled for the next distribution.
On his part, Acting Minister in charge of Health Services Prof. Inonda Mwanje assured maximum support to the CHVs to enable them discharge their duties effectively, sentiments that were echoed by the department’s Chief Officer Dr. Mary Anyienda who additionally thanked the team for their continued hardwork at grassroots level.
While expressing their gratitude to the County boss, the CHVs promised to double their efforts in ensuring that there is maximum service delivery.
Also present during the ceremony were Public Service Acting Minister Mary Amalemba, Chief of Staff in the Governor’s Office James Otari, Advisors to the Governor Dr. Jairus Amayi (Economics), Hon. Lunani Joseph Advisor ICT, Governance & Budget, area (Busali) MCA Gladys Analo among other leaders.
