Search for Missing Kayole Pupil Raises Alarms

A community is in distress following the mysterious disappearance of 13-year-old Joseph Duncan Odhiambo, a Grade 5 pupil at Komarock South Primary School. Joseph went missing on September 28 after attending his regular Saturday remedial classes, leaving his family and friends deeply concerned.

Edward Otieno, Joseph’s father, reported that he dropped his son off at school that morning and returned home to find him missing. “I was shocked to find he was not there,” he said, expressing his growing worry as the hours passed without any word from Joseph.

After reaching out to the school, Otieno spoke with Mr. James Mutuko, the teacher on duty that week. Mutuko assured him that Joseph was safe and had been tasked with escorting a sick friend home. He promised to personally bring Joseph back later that evening. However, as night fell and Joseph still had not returned, Otieno attempted to contact the teacher again, but his calls went unanswered.

“The teacher told me he would bring my son back, but he never did,” Otieno recounted. The following morning, when he sought further clarification, he was warned by Mutuko not to call again.

Frustrated and worried, Otieno reported the incident to the Kayole police station after his efforts to communicate with the school administration proved futile. It was later revealed that Mutuko had also ignored calls from his colleagues and superiors.

Authorities from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kayole summoned Mutuko for questioning, but he was released without charges. Efforts to obtain a statement from Mutuko have been unsuccessful, as he declined to respond to phone inquiries.

The Odhiambo family is now appealing to the public and the government for assistance in locating their son. “We just want our son back safe. We are asking anyone with information to come forward,” Edward pleaded.

The community remains on high alert, hoping for a swift resolution to this troubling case. As search efforts continue, Joseph’s disappearance highlights the growing concerns about student safety in schools and the responsibilities of educators.
