By Wasike Elvis In a significant move aimed at enhancing the quality of education and living conditions for rural communities, Kesses Member of Parliament (MP) CPA Julius Ruto, alongside Cabinet Secretary for ASALs and Regional Development, Hon. Beatrice Askul Moe, officially commissioned the Chuchuniat Primary School Water Project. This project, which was launched at the school grounds, is set to provide clean and reliable water to both the school and its surrounding community, marking the beginning of a new era for the area.Speaking at the event, MP Julius Ruto expressed his commitment to addressing the challenges faced by rural schools, noting that access to water has been a long-standing issue that has hampered both educational progress and the general wellbeing of the community. "It is an honor to be part of this transformative initiative," said Ruto. "Today, we are laying the foundation for a brighter future where every child at Chuchuniat Primary School, as well as the community members, will have reliable access to water. This is not just about education; it's about creating a healthy, dignified environment for all."The project will serve as a vital source of clean water, addressing the needs of over 500 students at the school and benefiting the local community. With clean water now available, the initiative will help reduce absenteeism among students due to waterborne diseases, as well as improve hygiene and overall health standards. The project is also expected to enhance the learning environment, offering students a better and more comfortable space to study.Hon. Beatrice Askul Moe, Cabinet Secretary for ASALs and Regional Development, echoed the sentiments of sustainable development. "This project is a testament to our collective efforts to uplift rural schools and communities. Access to water is a fundamental human right, and through this initiative, we are ensuring that no child is left behind due to a lack of basic resources," she stated.The commissioning of the Chuchuniat Primary School Water Project is part of a broader government strategy to improve infrastructure in rural areas, with a particular focus on schools. The initiative aligns with the government's vision of promoting community well-being through sustainable development and ensuring that every child in the country has the opportunity to learn in a conducive and healthy environment.Ruto also highlighted the importance of continued collaboration between the government, local leaders, and the community in realizing long-term development goals. "Together, we are building a future where every child has the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background or geographic location," he remarked.As the water project begins to benefit Chuchuniat Primary School and its neighboring community, MP Julius Ruto remains committed to driving more initiatives that will contribute to the growth and development of Kesses and other rural areas.
