Self Preservation
The sugar brands are still on the shelves, looking like they are locally produced yet they are not, they are imports, a repackaging, a drain to our dollar reserves.
Do we have farmers that have or can grow sugar cane?
Absolutely!
Do we have factories that can process the sugar? Absolutely!
Do we have a people that can consume the product, both inside and outside?
Absolutely!
Is their a need to reserve our foreign exchange?
Absolutely!
And?
Why not just focus on enabling the farmer? Now I know that mechanisation is key to produce sugar cane.
Give him credit to farm and facilitate inputs if need be.
Factories will have sugacane to produce sugar.
Imports would be a thing of the past.
This I found myself thinking last night as I watched a feature on sugar cane on our local TV.
Then I wondered, this thought is not rocket science.
Well, I may be naive, but even then the truth will not change.
Anyway, let’s all show up in our place of work, our place of responsibility .
Madam CEO.
