Senate Committee on Land, Environment and Natural Resources led by vice Chair Sen. (Dr.) Ltumbesi Lelegwe today met with Nyandarua Integrated IDPs concerning occupation of parcels of Land bought 2010-2013 and compensation money frozen in Bank.

The petitioners told the Committee that the IDPs land parcels, that the Government of the Republic of Kenya bought way back 15 years ago should be allocated to the IDPs including the Nyandarua Integrated IDPs and more urgently, in specific terms, the IDPs in camps such as those in Lakipia County, Rumuruti at Kianjogu Muruku ‘’Jericho’’ Camp, the Muhu camps and others.

Nyandarua Integrated IDPs also informed the Committee that the Government had a bias and a somewhat negative orientation on the disbursement of the compensation Money and not every vetted person got the six itemized disbursements.

Petitioners therefore pray that the Committee put in place elaborate and proper mechanism to give new mandate to the National Consultative Co-ordination Committee -Board (N.C.C.C) so that it is enabled to accomplish its primary Mission for the IDPs as is in the 2012 Act of Parliament on IDPs.
That the compensation money in bank account that the vetted IDPs were awarded and which was retained by the banks be released and given to the beneficiaries since the money is overdue since 2017.

Petitioners also pray that the Land parcel bought of the Kenya Government during the reign of the late President Mwai Kibaki in diverse years in 2010,2011 and 2012, be identified, located and allocated to the IDPs beneficiaries who deserve.
Legislators resolved to invite Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Land and National Lands Commission to shed light on the matter.

Other Senators in attendance were, Sen. Johnes Mwaruma, Sen. Agnes Kavindu, Sen. Mariam Omar and Sen. Beatrice Ogolla.
