Sh 3 Billion Allocated For School Feeding Program -Ndindi Nyoro
Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has revealed that the schools feeding program which was removed has been reinstated .
Ha said Sh 3 billion has been set aside for the same.
“This programe will help students from poor background access education,” he said during a church service and funds drive in Maralal.
His sentiments were echoed by Naisula Lesuuda Samburu West who said bringing back the school feeding program will help students from poor backgrounds.
“We thank you allot for allocating money for the program we come from this region and we know what our children go through.JSS teachers should also employed on a permanent and pensionable terms since they are suffering,” he said .
She also thanked the budget Committee chair Ndindi Nyoro for allocating Sh 1 billion for restocking cattle and also for allocating dinfa to mordiernize security.
Samburu Senator Lelengwe Steve says ” 70 percent of students not only go to school to read but ei get food we are happy that money has been allocated for the same,”
Samburu women representative Lengurus Pauline supporter the move saying it will increase enrolment in schools since there are some parents who cannot even afford a meal a day.
As the chairman of the budget Committee, Nyoro unveiled the proposed 2024-2025 budget, amounting to KSh 3.9 trillion. Saying the the education sector received a significant allocation of KSh 700 billion.
Within this allocation, Nyoro announced plans to transition junior secondary school (JSS) teachers and contract teachers to permanent and pensionable terms. Additionally, the budget encompasses the recruitment of 20,000 new teachers in the coming fiscal year.
He further revealed that another sh 3 Billion has been allocating to the school feeding programs which will ensure that and increase enrolment .students go to school.
“Sh 2 bullion was set aside for restocking for Farmers who have lost their livestock due to insecurity,” he said .
Nyoro says that concerning stalling projects sh 50 billion has been set aside for roads and another sh 180 billion for road maintenance.
The budgetary allocation also extends support to farmers, with Sh 16 billion designated for fertilizer subsidies.
