Shape Up or Ship Out Lusaka Tells Health Management Team
Bungoma governor Kenneth Lusaka has sent a stern warning to the county health management to put their house in order or face the sack.
Speaking while receiving drug consignment from KEMSA, a tough talking lusaka paraded the CEC Health Andrew Wamalwa ,chief officer Magrima Mayama and health Director Caleb Watta warning them to stop their unending internal wrangles that were compromising service delivery.
“I want to tell you before the public and in broad day light, that your internal wrangles and profiling of staff are behind the woes bedeviling this ministry ,this is the last time I am warning you :You either immediately change or face the sack ,” said a visibly angry Lusaka.
Lusaka intimated that the feuding officers had formed parallel groups and cartels that had negatively impacted on the ministry .
“This was the best performing ministry but unfortunately the formation of cartels and rivalry among top officers has taken it back. I am giving them an ultimatum that I want to see change in the next few daysor face the music ,”Said Lusaka.
The county boss also warned other health staff against joining cartels saying their days are numbered .
“Wow unto you who have formed cartels because I have narrowed down on you and you will soon be jobless ,”Said Luasaka.
The governor at the same time announced that the Bungoma referral hospital had been upgraded to level five.
The facilities received a consignment of drugs worthy 38 million shillings that will be distributed across the county .
This will help curb an acute shortage of drugs that had hit facilities within the county .
Speaking at the function members of the county assembly led by health committee chairperson George Makari blamed KEMSA for delaying in distribution of drugs .
“We want to call on KEMSA to expedite their distribution of drugs to counties because their delay has really hurt health facilities ,”Said Makari .
He further called on the department to use alternative suppliers if KEMSA continues with delays .
