Sisibo Women League Savings and Credit Cooperative Society Limited has officially received its registration certificate.

Speaking after handing over the certificate Uasin Gishu County Executive Committee Member for Trade, Industrialization, Tourism, Cooperatives and Enterprise Development, Martha Cheruto, said the Society qualified after they were taken through training.

“I want to congratulate Sisibo Women League Savings and Credit Cooperative Society Limited for being registered, we are glad to be here to give a certificate of registration this is after they were taken through training by the department before they were fully registered,” said Ruto.

She says empowerment and financing cooperative Societies are under Governor Jonathan Bii’s Nguzo Kumi Manifesto.
“We are glad as County that the cooperative movement is picking and we want to strengthen it and
have sustainable cooperatives within this county and beyond,” added Cheruto
“We commit that as Department we will support them through various programs which include capacity building leadership management, cooperative management, and other items to build their capacity,” she says.

She says Saccos can now access cheap loans through County Enterprise Development Fund where the interest rate is affordable.

Sisibo Women League Savings and Credit Cooperative Society Limited chair lady Anna Lyne thanked all stakeholders who made the days successful.

“We have faith in our Society because there is a saying which goes if we empower a woman we empower the whole community as well as the county. This is why we are empowering ourselves with the help of the National and County government for us to be self-reliant,” she said.

She said their aim is to help the government instead of always asking the government to help them.

“We have started a journey and one day we shall declare ourselves a bank where we will even give the government loans,” she added.
