Sodomy cases in Uasin Gishu On the Rise

Cases of Sodomy against young boys in Uasin Gishu County have been reported to be on the raise ,

The Uasin Gishu County Gender director Linda Madegwa ,now claims young boys have become sexual pray by professionals and financially stable individuals who lure the young boys into sodomy.

“We are saddened by the increased cases of sodomy among our sons as young as 15 years , perhaps our attention for the longest time has been on our girls and w e have forgotten to protect the young boys against sexual violence that is on the raise “Said Madegwa.

Madegwa has noted that some of the sodomy cases are taking place in schools,

“It’s also unfortunate that some of these cases are perpetrated by fellow young boys especially while in schools and as such our boys are sexually abused without them knowing what they are supposed to do,”Noted The Gender officer

However it has been noted that many of the sodomy cases are not reported either in schools or to the relevant government authorities as the levels of awareness against such cases remains low.

“Our office can only manage to record such cases once victims visit healthy centers to seek medical attention ,however very few of them are reported in police stations , we encourage our people to report these case s for immediate action by the relevant agencies, “Said Madegwa.

Some of the sodomy cases are said to arbitrated at the community level where families of the victims and the perpetrators agree to pay some amount of money and this is against the law as all sexual offenses are supposed to be settled in court .
