Step Towards achieving 15 Billion trees in ten years begins with planting one Tree -Governor Rotich
Elgeyo Marakwet governor Wisley Rotich launched tree planting activity at Kapsoiyo, Kapchemutwa Ward as per the President’s Directive.
He called on residents to follow suit by planting trees in their respective farms.
“I want to call upon wananchi to take part in this important exercise through planting and taking care of trees in their homes especially during the Long rains,” he said.
“Restoration of forest cover in our county has began in earnest through a concerted effort by all key players with an aim of restoring our position as one of the County with largest forest cover.We will continue planting more trees during rainy season,” he added.
Present during this exercise included Deputy Governor Prof.Grace Cheserek, officials from the National Treasury, area MCA Steve Cheruiyot, ,CECs Jason Lagat (environment) , Thomas Maiyo (Lands), Keiyo North DCC Julius Maiyo and KFS officials.
