Governor Jackson Mandago has advised the youth to focus on studying for courses that are currently in high demand.
Through this, Mandago said, it will be easier for them to get employment once they graduate.
Speaking during the launch of sensitization of TVETS, in Chemundu, Chesumei constituency, Nandi County, the county boss further asked the youths to also study for courses that they will be able to self-employ, in the event they fail to get formal employment.
“We want a student who finish TVET training to be able to employ themselves by using the skills acquired.
The best, this can be achieved is by taking relevant and high-demand courses,” Mandago said.
The Governor has been taking the lead in asking youths to take advantage of the Government initiative in which students joining TVETs get HELB loans and funding from the Ministry of Education.
He has always been categorical on the fact that the current opportunity might not be available in the future.
“Government policies change over time. In the next few years or even months, the opportunity of TVET getting funding might not be there, so it is important that we make use of the initiative currently,” Mandago said.
Chesumei Member of Parliament, Wilson Kogo, reaffirmed his commitment to supporting education for the youth in the Constituency, noting that through various initiatives, he has been able to improve education in primary and secondary school.
He also challenged the youths never to look down upon themselves, no matter the grades they get.
“Nobody is useless, whatever grade you got, you can do something in life, go to school, get skills and be able to contribute positively to life,” said the MP.
