The Eldoret National Polytechnic Hosts Cultural Day Ceremony

The Eldoret National Polytechnic held its Cultural Day Ceremony at Square at the school premises.

It aimed at promoting peace,cohesion and integration towards the fourthcoming August polls.

The ceremony was presided over by council of elders from different tribes who represented their communities who showed up their culture values and norms Infront of hundred of comrades,staff and visitors.

The event was also meant to brought together variety of tribes and embrace others cultures and was witnessed when they wore tradional customs while performing on the stage.

They presented folksongs,dramas,modern songs,comedy and spoken words.The adjudicators were present to oversee the activities and make judgement on the performance of the participants accordingly.Modelling was also embraced by many and applauded loftly.

The ceremony was held to ensure the African culture is not diminishing.

The 21st Century generation is adopting and assimilating Western culture and that of Middle East abandoning their own.

The chief Principal of The Eldoret National Polytechnic,Charles Koech was impressed with the event after the Nandi council of Elder blessed him and handed over the ruling power symbols

“I am grateful to be part of this event on this important day,”said Koech.

The council of Elders from Mijikenda,Luhya,Gusii,Luo,Kalenjin among others insisted on the significance of the culture.According to them,culture is the identification of a person’s origin and you cannot ignore it.

The Council of elders advised youths not to be lured by politicians’ money to cause riots and violence on the forthcoming general election.Instead they requested them to promote peace and harmony by loving each other.
