The Kenyan Government Urged to Fund Local Artists

Paul Wekesa, a Local gospel musician from Eldoret is calling upon the Kenyan Government to support local artists through recognizing and funding them.
According to Wekesa the artists are going through a lot and it’s only the government that can save them.

He says the major challenges include; the high cost of recording and the high cost of music equipment which makes it affordable for upcoming musicians.

“The Music industry is not an easy task because of the high cost of recording. We are calling on the government to intervene by funding our recording by purchasing for us the equipment,” said Wekesa.

The upcoming Musician also appealed to the Kenyan Media stations to support Kenyan music industries by playing music from local artists to help them gain popularity locally and even internationally.

“Most of the music played by our Kenyan media stations is not our own. l have sent some of my songs to some radio stations but they have never been played” added the musician.

Wekesa has further urged Kenyans and leaders at large to support Kenyan music by listening and subscribing to digital platforms such as Skiza tune and youtube because most of the famous musicians are from other countries.
Paul Wekesa who has been in the music industry for more than 4 years is urging the upcoming musicians to work hard and should not give up because challenges are always there.
