There will be peace and security in Uasin Gishu – Deputy Police commander Assures
Deputy police Commander Turbo Sub County Christopher Wesonga has assured Kenyans of their security in the forthcoming August elections in Uasin Gishu county.
In a training and sensitization programme held in conjunction with National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) that attracted the police, media personalities, youth, women and the community at large he said there is no cause of alarm.
Uasin Gishu County having been named a hot spot area, concerns have been raised ahead of the general election, with a previous history of the 2007 post election violence.
“My promise to Kenyans and particularly those in Uasin Gishu County, let them not be worried since there is security in place to ensure their safety and their properties are well protected. We have enough personalities to ensure people are safe,” Said deputy police commander, Christopher Wesonga.
A campaign by NCIC dubbed elections bila noma is meant to engage the stakeholders and iron out issues before the general election
“Since 2020 we’ve been here all through meeting different people and stakeholders and we know that through these engagements we are going to have elections without violence.” said NCIC commissioner Dorcas Kedogo , adding that the sensitization should not raise eyebrows that this is a hotspot area, but through the engagements there will be peace come the 9th of August because this our Kenya, we want one destiny, one nation with peace.
Addressing the land issue, the commissioner assured that the Ministry of Lands together with National Lands Commission are working on the pending land issues and resettlement of residents who had been displaced or had migrated.
