As A Member Of Justice and legal affairs Committee, Rarieda Member of Parliament the Honorable Otiende Amollo held Engaging & Enriching Discussions With Attorney General, Hon Justin Muturi, On The Statute Law Miscellaneous Amendment No 2 Bill 2023.

The National Assembly resumes its regular sittings this afternoon. This marks the beginning of the Third Session of the 13th Parliament.

The House is expected to approve Members to serve on key sessional Committees including the House Business Committee (HBC), the Powers and Privileges Committee, and the Select Committee on Members’ Services and Facilities. Membership to these Committees is renewed at the beginning of each session.

Additionally, the House will consider and approve the House Calendar for the year. This will guide the sittings of the House up to December 2024.

On legislative matters, Members will consider the Budget Policy Statement (BPS), the Debt Management Strategy, and the attendant legislation. The Statement and Debt strategy are expected to be laid on the House by 15th February.

It is expected that the House will also consider the Budget Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure for the Financial Year 2024/2025 once they finalize the BPS and Debt Strategy.

In addition, the legislation in-tray has the Affordable Housing Bill (National Assembly Bill No. 75 of 2023) which aims to establish a legal framework for the Affordable Housing Fund, plus access to accessible and adequate housing.

Also set for consideration is the Report by the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) and the legislation
