Thoughts From Samchi Group Founder and Chief Executive Officer Madam CEO Esther Muchemi

I am not a historian, but I have read and heard that at independence, Singapore and Kenya were at the same social- economic level.

But compare the 2 today; the difference in all aspects is like the sun and the moon, way way apart!

“Why?” I asked myself today,

And the major difference I can sense has come because of siasa stability in one and several sporadic upheavels in another.

In Kenya:-

Struggle 1 – Socialism

Struggle 2 – Tribalism

Struggle 3 – One party state

Struggle 4 – Can’t even remember

Struggle 5 –
Constitutional amendment, starting with banana and orange

Struggle 6 – BBI

Struggle 7 – I hear economic liberation

Struggle 8 – Future

Goodness me,

Kenyans are very intelligent and hard-working

We are gifted with a very beautiful country, the weather, great people, the landscape, mountains, valleys and oceans

We have great favour and admiration from the outside world, etc

And on average we claim to be God fearing!

Looking at it, we have everything except siasa stability going for us, perhaps, I may finally have to agree with one of our leaders who said,

“Siasa mbaya, maisha mbaya”,

Honestly, honestly, what must we fix to avoid struggle 7 and struggle 8, aren’t we tired I ask?

If we can’t work, we can’t eat, if we can’t eat we will surely die!

Are we in a frying pan jumping into the fire?

My thoughts are all over, 3 days in a week , 80% of our labour force is in MSME and then, how shall we put food on our tables?

Just thinking about the people who depend on me in a small way.
Is this sustainable?! We are also human, remember.

Honestly , honestly, let’s calm our great Nation Kenya.
