Three Arrested in Westlands Burglary
Kilimani detectives have arrested three individuals linked to a significant burglary in Westlands, Nairobi, where electronic items and cash amounting to USD 24,500 were stolen. The suspects, identified as Lenah Khamatioli (28), Ian Kavaya (28), and Peninah Mutola (32), were apprehended in Kawangware, where investigators found a collection of new items believed to be the proceeds of their crime.
The burglary occurred on September 24, when the homeowner, a South Sudanese national, returned to her residence on Rahpta Road to find her house girl missing and her valuables taken, including an iPhone 15, a Samsung Z Flip, and various pieces of jewelry. Following the theft, she reported the incident to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Kilimani office, prompting a detailed investigation.
After weeks of forensic analysis, detectives tracked the suspects to their hideout. Upon their arrest, a range of new goods was seized, including a Boxer motorcycle (Reg No. KMGN 840N), a 55-inch Vitron TV, a Hanmac microwave, an HP laptop, a NNix cooker oven, a 6kg Pro gas cylinder, a five-seater sofa, a mattress, two watches, and three brand-new Samsung A50 phones.
Additionally, investigators confiscated an agreement for the purchase of land in Kapkangani, Nandi County, valued at Kshs 423,000, suggesting possible further criminal activity.
The suspects are currently in custody as detectives continue their search for additional accomplices and any remaining stolen items. This case underscores ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat burglary and recover stolen property in Nairobi.
