Traffic Disruption Alert: Heavy Loads to Affect Major Highways for 36 Days
Motorists are being cautioned about potential traffic disruptions on three major highways as a private company prepares to transport an oversized load from Mombasa to Malaba. The operation, set to commence on October 26 and run until December 31, 2024, will impact the Nairobi-Mombasa, Nairobi-Nakuru, and Nakuru-Malaba routes.
The load, measuring 5.3 meters high, 5.5 meters wide, and 25 meters long, will travel from Mombasa to Nairobi, passing through Nakuru before heading towards Malaba near the Kenya-Uganda border. Given the dimensions of the cargo, authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution and avoid reckless driving during this period.
In a statement released on Saturday, the company emphasized the importance of road safety, advising all road users to be vigilant when encountering the abnormal load. This is not the first occurrence of such transport, as similar disruptions were noted last year.
Motorists are encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly and remain alert to changing traffic conditions throughout the transportation period.
