On Sunday morning, Eileen Cherotich, a 22-year-old second-year Human Resources student at Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology, was discovered deceased near the Eveready Roundabout along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway. Cherotich, a resident of Kabasis Center, had been reported missing since Saturday afternoon.

According to Nakuru West Sub-County DCI Officer Charles Kamau, two suspects are currently in custody and are assisting with the ongoing investigation into Cherotich’s death. Authorities have also identified a third individual who remains at large. The vehicle involved in the incident is currently being held at Nakuru West Police Station.

Kamau addressed the situation in a statement to Nation Africa, saying, “Currently, we have two suspects in custody and have launched an investigation into the incident. We are in pursuit of other suspects and are working diligently to apprehend them.”

Cherotich’s friend recounted that Cherotich had left home around 1 PM on Saturday with plans to return that evening. When she did not come back, her friends initially assumed she might have stayed at another friend’s house.

At the same time, Eric and Brenda had organized a meeting intended to reconcile Cherotich with Eric, her boyfriend of one year and five months. Eric, who works as a butchery attendant at Kabasis Center, was reportedly involved in the confrontation that led to Cherotich’s death.

Joseph, who was in the car with the suspects, revealed, “We were just the two of us in the car heading to town. I asked him why Cherotich opted to jump out of the car, but he insisted that they fought. He told me that Brenda was with Cherotich and that they were okay.”
