Trans Nzoia County and Kenya Premier League Join Forces to Nurture Local Football Talent

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has emphasized the importance of harnessing, nurturing, and showcasing the abundance of talent present in the county.

Speaking at the county headquarters during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Kenya Premier League (KPL), Governor Natembeya highlighted the outstanding performance of school games in Trans Nzoia.

Noting that Some of the participants have even represented the country in the East Africa games, with others excelling at the national level.

The partnership between the county and KPL aims to establish an under-20 football tournament in the county.

This initiative seeks to identify the most promising players who will form a football team to represent Trans Nzoia County in the premier league.

Governor Natembeya pledged full support from the County government to facilitate this collaborative effort and provide a platform for the youth to exhibit their skills.
Expressing his gratitude, Governor Natembeya thanked KPL for their involvement and support in empowering the county’s youth.

Kenya Premier League Chairman, Mr. Ambrose Rachier, also extended his appreciation to the governor for joining forces to nurture local talent and provide leadership in the sporting arena, with a special focus on youth teams.

Notably, Radio Jambo’s Head, Mr. Steve Okembo, was also brought on board to contribute to this initiative. Radio Jambo, a pioneer of sports radio in the country and the most significant supporter of local football, will play a crucial role in promoting and covering the events.

Mr. Okembo highlighted the immense potential in Trans Nzoia County, often referred to as Kenya’s breadbasket, and expressed his belief in the region’s capability to produce numerous talents for the country.

With this strategic partnership between Trans Nzoia County and Kenya Premier League, the future looks bright for young footballers in the County.

The joint effort is set to create opportunities for local talents to shine, representing not just their county but also making a mark on the national and possibly international stage.
