Trans Nzoia Department of Roads and Public Works Embraces Change Under New Leadership
In a bid to enhance efficiency and service delivery, the Trans Nzoia Department of Roads and Public Works has undergone significant restructuring under the leadership of Executive Committee Member Jackson Amboka.
During a recent meeting with departmental staff, Amboka highlighted the achievements of the past financial year, revealing that the department had achieved a commendable 70 percent success rate based on performance indicators.
One of the major changes announced was the division of the department and the appointment of two chief officers: Joseph Wasike for Roads and Infrastructure, and George Mwangi for Public Works and Energy. This restructuring aims to streamline operations and enhance specialization within the department.
In further updates, Amboka announced key personnel changes. Stephene Mukubui, previously with the Education department, has been appointed as the administrative director for the entire department, signaling a strategic move to leverage diverse skills and experience.
Additionally, there were reassignments within the department: Clerk of Works Chrispinus Wakoli, Edward Kiplagat, and Matifari have been reassigned to Public Works and Energy, while Joseph Makokha has moved to Roads and Infrastructure. Engineers Rachael Wangoi and Rodgers Simiyu will continue their roles in Roads and Infrastructure, ensuring continuity and expertise in crucial areas.
Amboka also addressed the management of departmental assets, noting that Chief Officer Wasike will oversee heavy machinery such as lorries, graders, excavators, and backhoes, while Chief Officer Mwangi will manage a section of smaller vehicles, optimizing resource allocation and operational efficiency.
Furthermore, Amboka assured casual workers of the county government’s commitment to transitioning them into permanent and pensionable positions, reflecting efforts to improve job security and welfare within the department.
