Trans Nzoia Gears Up for Football Extravaganza with Governors Cup Launch
Football enthusiasts in Trans Nzoia are gearing up for an exciting football extravaganza as the much-anticipated Governors Cup, an initiative by Governor George Natembeya, is set to kick off on December 1, 2023. There will be a pre launch of the tournament on Friday November 24,2023 at Rajani round about.
The tournament, aimed at fostering sports development and talent identification, is set to elevate football at the grassroots level within the county.
Governor Natembeya, in collaboration with Radio Africa and the Kenya Premier League (KPL), among other key stakeholders, is dedicated to promoting football development in Trans Nzoia.
The Governors Cup will not only showcase local talent but also provide a platform for community engagement as teams from across the county compete for the coveted trophy.
Governor Natembeya will personally select the ward where the event will take place.
The chosen ward will host the tournament, setting the stage for an exciting showdown among local teams.
Beyond the thrills of the matches, the Governors Cup serves as a valuable vehicle for identifying promising players who will have the opportunity to form a county team.
This team, once assembled, will represent Trans Nzoia in national leagues, adding a significant dimension to the grassroots sports development initiative.
To further build excitement leading up to the tournament, a trophy tour is scheduled to take place on November 23- 24th covering all wards within the county.
This tour is expected to drum up support and enthusiasm for the upcoming football spectacle, engaging communities and igniting a passion for the beautiful game.
