Trans Nzoia leaders Urged to encourage youth to join VTCs,trainees to Receive Free Equipment after Graduation
Trans Nzoia County Director for Vocational Training Eliud Lusweti has stated that graduates from vocational training centers(VTCs)in the County will receive equipment to start their own businesses after graduation.
Speaking at a sports event held at Makutano Vocational Training Center in Cherangany Sub County on Friday, Lusweti emphasized the potential profitability of technical skills if graduates are provided with startup kits.
Lusweti reaffirmed that technical training is a key agenda of Governor George Natembeya and urged young people to enroll in VTCs in large numbers.
He mentioned that he is collaborating with CECM Julie Kichwen and chief officer Jane Wachwenge to engage leaders across the county in encouraging idle youth to join vocational training centers.
Lusweti expressed the importance of leaders taking an active role in motivating young people who have dropped out of school for various reasons to enroll in vocational training centers and acquire technical skills.
He emphasized the need to find the best way forward by involving these influential leaders in promoting the significance of these training centers.
He said the County Government is planning to hire 100 instructors for the Colleges to enhance quality.
Lusweti mentioned that the Trans Nzoia government has partnered with the UK government to equip all vocational training centers in the county.
Lusweti encouraged students to nurture their talents, highlighting that sports activities can serve as a source of employment.
He called upon all stakeholders to collaborate with his department and devise appropriate funding mechanisms, as most courses are currently offered at minimal costs.
Some of the courses offered are electrical courses, building technology, Plumbing, Hairdressing among others.
After the sub-county sports,the winning teams will proceed to County,regional and finally to the National level courtesy of Governor Natembeya.
