Uasin Gishu branch Kuppet Executive Secretary Elijah Maiyo has hit at the Teachers Service Commission for playing with teachers’ minds on promotion.

This comes after the TSC Commission announced 15,000 promotion slots for secondary schools in the Country.

“It is sad that despite teachers stagnating in one job group for over twenty-five years TSC has only advertised 15,000 slots this is a drop in the ocean and mockery to teachers.

He said this is against the labor laws which doesn’t allow one to stay in one job group for over three years.

“For example in Uasin Gishu we have over three thousand teachers and those who will benefit from the same are only thirteen, surely what is this? We see that we are being played by TSC and we won’t allow it to happen,” added the Uasin Gishu branch Kuppet Executive Secretary.

He called on the Teachers Service Commission to review the promotions with immediate effect saying the just released number of beneficiaries is a drop in the ocean.

“We want TSC to announce a fresh promotion list with immediate effect since why should Uasin Gishu with secondary school teacher of a population of 3000 only get 35 beneficiaries, the announcement should be made afresh for more teachers to benefit,” he said.

“If they will not announce fresh promotion list we will organize a mother of all demonstration in Eldoret town,” he said.

He called on president William Ruto to appoint a commission that will look into teachers’ issues.

“President William Ruto recently has appointed a commission to look into Police Service issues, I want to call upon you to form Commission to look into teachers issues so that their salaries and grades may be looked into, This discrimination is uncalled for,” Maiyo said.
