Two More Bodies Retrieved From River Sosiani
Uasin Gishu Firefighting brigade on Friday retrieved the body of an unknown male aged between 20-30 years from River Sosiani at Teldet village, Kapsaos Ward in Turbo Sub County.
Uasin Gishu Chief Fire Officer, Wanyama Sitati, said no document was found to identify the deceased.
Teldet village elder, Joash Masinde, noted that the deceased was not from his area and might have been swept by floodwater from elsewhere.
Another body of a grade three pupil who also drowned was retrieved in an abandoned borrow pit at Uasin Gishu farm in Cheptiret Kipchamo Ward, Kesses Sub County. Residents alleged that the child slipped and drowned in the water while trying to recover a shoe that had dropped into the water.
On Thursday, the team recovered another body from a dam in Sugoi, Tapsagoi ward, Turbo Sub County.
Sitati urged all residents to be cautious especially now that there are heavy rains that have increased the river flow. He also asked the community to discourage children and young adults from playing in places with floodwater to avoid such incidences in future.
The bodies retrieved by the County Fire Department crew were handed over to police officers and took them to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary.
