Uasin Gishu County Assembly leaders Speak on Raila Odinga’s Demonstration
Uasin Gishu County Assembly leaders have condemned the ongoing demonstrations that are being conducted by the opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Led by the majority leader Julius Sang they said the move is uncalled for and ill-intended.
“As leaders from Uasin Gishu, we want to condemn the ongoing demonstrations with the strongest terms possible since it has led to the destruction of property and destabilizing the government. Odinga should instead look for alternative ways to solve their problems,” said Julius Sang who doubles up as Megun Ward MCA while speaking to the press.
He said the opposition leader and his allies should stop demonstrations if he wants talks with the government.
“President Ruto should have conversations with him but not sharing the government but instead to bring peace in the Country. Demonstrations will not bring down the cost of Unga but instead, Kenyans should go to the farm and plant maize,” he added.
Moses Kebenei MCA Simat/Kasert ward said although demonstration is one’s democratic right it should not infringe on other people’s rights.
“The demonstrations that are being conducted by Raila Odinga are not peaceful, since lives and properties have been lost and as I am talking businessman and women from cannot travel to Nairobi in fear of their likes,” said the Kapseret/Simat Ward MCA.
“The government is just six months old let us give them time to deliver since during campaigns the price of Unga was 250 and now it’s 160a difference of 90 shillings. Let’s give president Ruto time and all will be well,” he added.
He further called on the international community to force the opposition leader Raila Odinga to end his demonstration before calling for any negotiations.
“President Ruto my humble request try to put this country together no matter what Kenya is for all of us, this is our Country and we don’t have any other one and we should live as brothers and sisters,” Kebenei said.
Mary Goreti Borosua Kipsomba hit at the Narc Party leader Martha Karua for condoning the demonstration.
“Martha Karua you are a mother and woman have sympathy to our children whose lives are being lost, instead you should support the government in power. Odinga has never done a peaceful demonstration, let us refrain from demonstrating for our economy to grow,” she said.
MCA Kiplombe Gilbert Lagat says “Raila Odinga should not use youths such as Babu Owino to demonstrate instead he should mentor them to be better leaders by solving issues amicably instead of demonstrations,”
Sarah Adbdi nominated urged the opposition leader Raila Odinga to give the government time to fulfill its promises.
“We are telling Raila Odinga to think twice, enough is enough and let him use other avenues to solve his issues demonstrating is not the way to go but only worsens the situation,” she said.
