Uasin Gishu County Welcomes 930 Attachees for Induction Program
Uasin Gishu County launched its induction program for 930 students from various tertiary institutions on Wednesday, aimed at preparing them for their upcoming attachments across different county departments. The event, led by County Executive Committee Member for Public Service Management, Mr. Elijah Kosgei, marked a significant step in providing students with practical experience essential for their future careers.
In his address, Mr. Kosgei emphasized the importance of mutual respect in both the workplace and society. He encouraged the attachees to engage actively in fieldwork, highlighting that this hands-on experience is crucial for developing their professional skills. He also underscored the value of teamwork, urging students to collaborate effectively to maximize their learning during the program.
Chief Officer for Public Service Management, Jelagat Tirop, spoke about core values necessary for success, including professionalism, time management, and a positive attitude. She noted that these qualities are vital for building effective relationships in the workplace.
Director of Training, Josphat Rotich, provided an overview of the County Government’s structure, explaining the roles of various bodies including the Public Service Board, County Assembly, and County Executive. He outlined the objectives of the attachment program, which include offering students hands-on experience, fostering professional growth, and instilling a strong work ethic.
Nathan Koech, Director of Human Resource Management, highlighted essential responsibilities such as adaptability and confidentiality. He stressed the importance of problem-solving skills in today’s work environment.
Further emphasizing the theme of professional growth, Director of Branding and Public Relations Faith Seroney and Ag. Director of Communications Amos Kipruto urged students to represent the County brand positively. They encouraged self-motivation, effective communication, and the importance of seeking mentorship and building networks throughout their attachment.
The induction ceremony was attended by various county officials, including human resource and public relations officers, all of whom expressed their commitment to supporting the attachees as they embark on this valuable journey.
