Uasin Gishu: ECDE Centers to Get Learning Materials
The County Government of Uasin Gishu has been keen to improve the quality of ECDE Education which is a devolved function.
This is in line with Governor Jonathan Bii’s fifth Pillar on Education under his Nguzo Kumi Manifesto.
As part of making true the promises he made to improve learning environment for all ECDEs, the Department of Education recently acquired teaching learning materials valued at over Ksh22 million.
The materials have already been delivered.
On Tuesday, Education County Executive Janeth Kosgei led a team of Department Senior officials to inspect ongoing packaging of the materials ahead of launch for distribution to all the ECDE centres next week.
Speaking during the inspection of the exercise at the Teachers Advisory Centre in Eldoret town, the CECM said distribution of the learning materials will be a culmination of keeping the promises Governor Bii made.
“We have employed teachers on a permanent and pensionable term, provided learners with milk twice a week and now they will get learning materials. All this is geared towards improving the quality of Education at our ECDE centres,” the CECM said.
“These materials are of different varieties, all meant to give the learners the best foundation in Education,” she added.
Chief Officer Marion Birgen shared similar sentiments.
She noted that the materials will go a long way to fulfilling the pledge of ensuring equality in access to education for all Uasin Gishu learners.
“We have made huge strides compared to what was happening in the past. The learning materials we have procured are in line with the current Competency-Based Curriculum,” CO Birgen said.
Director of Education Shadrack Morogo and Phyllis Lagat, Director Vocational Training were also present.
