Uasin Gishu Elders Demand For Immediate Arrest Of Inciters Ahead of August Polls
Uasin Gishu peace elders are now demanding perpetrators of allegations that Governor Jackson Mandago is training “militia” in Chebororwa ATC be brought to book terming the matter a threat to peace in the region.
They said the allegations are serious and those involved should be arrested and be brought to book.
“We are calling for the arrest of the immediate effect of those who perpetrated allegations that Governor Jackson Mandago is training “militia such utterances should not be made as we are heading to the August polls,” they said.
The elders and members of the County security committee visited the institution to ascertain the claims.
The elders now want anyone involved in interfering with peace and cohesion in the county to be barred from vying for any elective office.
Governor Jackson Mandago called for collaboration between institutions of security and other government institutions in ensuring fairness in the administration of justice.
“I want to call on the office of the Director of Criminal Investigation to speed up the investigation of the matter and bring to book those spreading divisive utterances,” Mandago said.
Recently governor Jackson Mandago appeared before Rift Valley regional DCI offices in Nakuru over allegations that he is training goons ahead of the August polls.
However, Mandago denied the allegations are false and ill-intended.
“I want to refute claims that a leader like me who advocates peaceful coexistence can train goons ahead of the August polls. The allegations are false and ill-intended and only meant to tarnish my name,” said the Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago.
Mandago termed the claims as malicious, peddled by competitors, singling out Governor Aspirant Zedekiah Buzeki.
” Chebororwa ATC is a government facility used for training its agricultural officers and farmers, as well as hosting conferences how can I use it to train goons. I am a law-abiding person and cannot train goons to injure my electorates,” governor Mandago added.
He noted that Uasin Gishu leaders have vowed to maintain peace and preach peace before, on, and after the August polls.
