Uasin Gishu Government Kicks of Registration of Bodaboda Operators
The registration of Motorbikes in Uasin Gishu County has kicked off.
According to trade CECM Dr Emily Kogos the exercise will take 60 days.
“We have started a 60 days bodaboda registration exercise where we are targeting to have a database of all bodaboda operators across the country. This will reduce insecurity cases which are conducted by unscrupulous operators,” she said.
Speaking during the launch of the exercise, ICT Trade and Industrialization CECM Dr Emily Kogos flanked by County Secretary Edwin Bett
She said the County Government will continue championing the affairs of the sector for them to continue growing .
“The County government has allocated over Ksh 15m to the bodaboda sector that the county has loaned the industry alongside wooing them to various Saccos for ease of proper management, coordination and traffic rules training,” he added.
Ainabkoi Sub County Deputy County Commissioner Charles Laboso said the program also aims to have the sector lawfully recognized like other businesses urging the operators to work closely with both county and national government during and after the exercise.
