Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Champions Fish Farming with Fingerling Distribution
In a move to boost food security and support local farmers, Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has reiterated his administration’s commitment to promoting fish farming across the county. To date, a total of 182,000 fingerlings and 18,000 kg of fish feed have been distributed to farmers, aimed at enhancing fish growth and reducing production costs.
Today, the Governor oversaw the restocking of Chelabal Dam in Segero Barsombe Ward with an additional 5,000 fingerlings. The initiative, which included the distribution of more fish feed, is expected to provide a reliable source of protein for the community while creating sustainable income opportunities for local farmers.
Governor Bii was accompanied by the area Member of County Assembly (MCA), Hon. Nathan Malamoch, as he emphasized the importance of supporting farmers to thrive in aquaculture. “Fish farming not only boosts nutrition but also offers significant economic potential for our farmers. We are committed to continuing this support to ensure fish farming becomes a major contributor to our local economy,” Governor Bii stated.
The county government aims to expand similar initiatives across other wards, empowering farmers and ensuring food security remains a priority in Uasin Gishu.
