Uasin Gishu County Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno has hit at the National Cohesion And Integration Commission ( NCIC) for listing Uasin Gishu County among the hotspot of violence as the County is heading to the August polls.

Chemno said Uasin Gishu is a peaceful County and Kenyans should ignore the report since it does not carry any water.

“I want to assure Uasin Gishu residents that there will be peace before, during, and after the August polls and Kenyans should ignore the report by NCIC since it is meant to cause fear ahead of the August polls, “said the Uasin Gishu deputy governor.

“Uasin Gishu County is a peaceful county, in 2013 we did a peaceful election,2017 we did a peaceful election and in 2022 election we will have the most peaceful election therefore no cause of alarm,” Chemno said.

The Uasin Gishu deputy governor called for the restoration of peace in Kerio Valley so that people can do their day to day activities in peace

“It is Ironical for the Kenyan movement to take its army to Somalia to restore peace and yet people in Kerio are killed on a daily basis. I call upon the cabinet secretary for internal Security Dr Fred Matiangi and PS . Karanja Kibicho to go and empathize with those families who lost their loved ones in Kerio killing,” he said.

“We want peace in Kerio valley we want people from Kerio to vote when there is peace, schools to be opened, and children to learn so that the fighting circle comes to an end as you all know if children do not learn, the will not be any economic activity other than cattle wrestling and if we don’t maintain peace we are going to generate more sophisticated ones,” Chemno noted.
