Uasin Gishu Milk Program Running Smoothly
Education Chief Officer Marion Birgen has hailed ECDE Coordinators for working round the clock to ensure the smooth running of the recently launched school milk program.
Speaking during a meeting with coordinators from Ainabkoi Sub County Birgen expressed happiness that the program targeting 40,000 ECDE pupils across the country had been a success already.
“I’m happy about the report that all schools have received milk as well as every learner. There is no wastage and that is the dream of our Governor; to give milk to every child in ECDE,” said the Chief Officer.
“We’ve not done much, it’s you who work much going to the ground to implement the Governor’s dream,” she added.
According to CO Birgen, the school milk program is part of Governor Bii’s Nguzo Kumi manifesto to ensure quality education for learners.
Earlier, the CO had visited Naiberi Primary School where she was impressed with the storage of milk for the ECDE learners.
She was accompanied by the Director for Education Shadrack Morogo who emphasized the need for teaching materials that enhance quality education for the ECDE learners.
Morogo also urged the ECDE coordinator to ensure the proper storage of the milk.
Rael Kemei, an ECDE teacher at Naiberi Primary School noted that the children always sing and pray for Governor Bii before taking the milk.
Under the school milk program launched last month, all ECDE pupils in public schools get a packet of 200ml milk twice a week – Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Meanwhile, the Chief Officer has announced plans by the county to roll out digitization in all ECDE centers.
This is even as she encouraged teachers to embrace digital learning.
