The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has officially thrown its weight behind the impeachment motion against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, calling on all party members to stand in solidarity and support the move. In a statement issued early today, UDA leadership affirmed that all eleven grounds leveled against the Deputy President were solid and justified, signaling a firm stance ahead of the public participation phase of the impeachment process.

According to the UDA, the party has thoroughly reviewed the accusations, which include allegations of misconduct and failure to uphold constitutional responsibilities. After extensive internal consultations, the party has aligned itself with the impeachment motion, urging its members to back the decision during today’s public participation forum.

“This is a crucial moment for the nation. We have deliberated and assessed all the charges against the Deputy President, and the party believes that they are well-founded,” the statement read. “As such, we urge all UDA members to stand firm and support the Impeachment Motion as part of our commitment to good governance.”

The party’s directive comes as public participation begins, allowing citizens to express their views on the motion before it moves to Parliament for debate and voting. Political analysts predict the impeachment motion may face stiff resistance from Gachagua’s allies, but with UDA’s backing, the motion gains significant momentum.

The UDA’s decision is expected to shape the discourse as the impeachment process unfolds. It also raises political tensions within the ruling coalition, as other factions may seek to defend the Deputy President against the charges.

“We believe in the rule of law and accountability,” the UDA concluded in its statement. “This decision is made in the best interest of the nation. God bless Kenya.”

As the public participation phase gets underway, all eyes will be on how the public and political leaders respond to UDA’s call for unity in the impeachment effort.
