Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno has asked the National Government to accord athletes a befitting welcome as a symbol of motivating the upcoming athletes.
Speaking while receiving the 3000m steeplechase Amos Serem, who won a gold medal in the just-concluded World Athletics under -20 Championships held in the country’s capital, Nairobi, Chemno called on the Ministry of Sports to invest in sportsmen and women so that the upcoming ones may draw lessons from them.
” As a county, we have decided to receive our champions and accord them a befitting welcome they deserve, I call upon talented youths in athletics to exploit their talents, and utilize them for their own benefit and for the benefit of this county and the entire nation,” said Chemno.
” Training in the steeplechase is not easy, it costs a lot of money, Amos has done us proud as a nation and as a county,” added Chemno.
Chemno also challenged the youths to take up the challenge of participating in various fields while emulating role models who have excelled in those fields.
