Vihiga County Official Dies Suddenly After Dinner
Vihiga County is in mourning following the unexpected death of Ezekiel Ayiego, the county’s official secretary. Ayiego, who had served in various government roles, passed away on Tuesday evening shortly after having supper. He was reportedly in good health and showed no signs of illness before collapsing and succumbing to the tragic event.
The Governor of Vihiga County, Hon. Wilber Ottichilo, confirmed the sad news, describing Ayiego’s death as a significant loss to both the county and his family. “It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of Ezekiel Ayiego, who was serving as the county secretary and head of the county government at the time of his death,” Governor Ottichilo said in a statement.
Ayiego, born on October 20, 1967, in Ingidi village, Lugaga Wamulama ward, had a long and distinguished career in public service. He was known for his resourcefulness and dedication, contributing immensely to the leadership and development of Vihiga County.
Governor Ottichilo paid tribute to Ayiego, remembering him as a valuable member of the county’s administration. “Mr. Ayiego will be remembered as a hardworking and committed official, whose work has left a lasting impact on the growth of Vihiga County,” the Governor added.
The sudden passing of the county official has left both the community and the government in shock, as they reflect on his contributions to public service. Funeral arrangements are yet to be announced as the county grapples with this untimely loss.
