Wagai starlets beat Nyasanda starlets

Wagai starlets beat Nyasanda starlets 4:3 on post match penalities to win the inagural Siaya county league.

The two teams progressed to penalities after goalless draw perfomance on saturday at Gombe primary school.

Wagai extended their unbeaten run to the final match after earlier in the day seeing of Siaya queens with the same margin at the spot kicks .

Nyasanda got to the final through phelisters Atitwa’s 15 th minute goal against south Gem starlets .

Wagai head coach Geoffrey Owino hailed praises to the starlets for staging outstanding performance .

“I am glad the girls followed instructions and perfomed well in the two matches played today .” he said .

Owino said that his success came from hardwork and commitment by both technical bench and players.

” We employed various strategies in the two games and we managed to learn on how we will be using .” he added.

Nyasanda starlets coach clement Oduor expressed his disapointments on the teams loss.

” we have learned a lot the girls did their best but it wasn’t good enough to match out opponents ” he said.

Oduor added that the final game was their first loss of the season which was commendable for the one year old squad .

” our zone had the fewest number of teams compared to other regions , having a fairly young squad we tried to engage them and we are seeing the fruits .” he said.

Wagai and nyasanda starlets were given kits by the Farova Development Initiative. Both teams also received a box of sanitary towels. Wagai were also given a trophy by Siaya FKF branch leadership.

FKF siaya branch women representative Dorothy Odur , siaya branch youth representative William ochieng Alego usonga sub branch chairman Stephen Binga were among those who were present during the closing of the league.
