Wamuchomba Has Invoked God’s Blessings for fighting for the Voiceless

Kenya is looking at a very bright future for Obstetric health if an approach by Githunguri member of parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba sees the light of day.

Wamuchomba has hatched a brilliant idea calling for ending in totality all forms of violence during child labour and child birth (Obstetric Violence. )

In a Forum in Nairobi, in which various players converged, it was evident that women in Kenya still undergo untold forms of Obstetric Violence which include physical, verbal, psychological and even economical abuse.

Some women are even abused based on their physical or mental incapacity.

The Hon Gathoni Wamuchomba alluded that she has drafted a very good Motion which will be tabled and debated in parliament any time soon .

“My people in Githunguri voted me in because they understood my confidence in fighting for their rights. In a recent visit to South Africa it dawned to me that there’s need for our country Kenya to enact legislation to end all forms of Obstetric Violence.

Obstetric Violence is defined as any form of degrading, inhuman treatment, harassment or assault that women undergo during Labour, during childbirth or even after birth as a result of post partum depression.

Several members of Parliament stood in Solidarity with the Honorable Gathoni Wamuchomba and just to mention a few they included, Hon Mulanya ,Hon Beatrice Adagala (Vihiga) Hon Rosa Buyu, Hon Prof. Phyllis Bartoo (Moiben) Hon Ruth Odinga, Hon Hon Jessica Mbalu , Hon Leah Sankaire Chairperspn Kewopa among others.
