We Don’t Support Raila Odinga’s Demonstration- Uasin Gishu Youths
Youths from Uasin Gishu County have opposed the Azimio la Umoja demonstrations going on in Nairobi.
Kelvin Kipleting, the Uasin Gishu youths president said they will not accept any other handshake from the opposition leader Raila Odinga.
“Today we have seen demonstrations by the opposition leader Raila Odinga and his brigade and I want to tell Raila as the youths of Uasin Gishu County we are not ready for a handshake and we will allow such a thing to happen. If the handshake is necessary then is there any reason for carrying out elections? ” said Kelvin Kipleting, youths’ president of Uasin Gishu County.
He called on Raila Odinga to respect their chosen president by stopping the protest and instead urged him to support the agendas of the youths of Kenya in one way or the other.
“As the youths of Uasin Gishu and the Rift Valley at large, we are asking you to respect the president of our country because we elected him and I am sure he knows what he is doing. Since the time I was born, I have seen you protesting against the government of the day. If you sincerely want to have peaceful protests then consider the agenda of employing youth and nurturing their talents. Why do you always want to get into the state house?” Questioned Kelvin.
Kelvin challenged the opposition party to give more time to the Kenya kwanza government to see their work because 6 months of service is not enough to have such complaints raised.
“For the youths who are followers of Azimio, I advise you to be careful. There is no day where Raila is heard defending the youths in one way or the other. Now we have had him tell the National Government to reduce the cost of living yet he was involved in the previous government where the lives of these citizens were hard. Let us give time to the national government to render their services to its people because 6 months is not enough to give complaints.” Remarked the youth president.
Noting the Kenya Kwanza inherited the government from the previous regime that as a result of the handshake catered to the haves while turning the other eye when it came to the haves not. Veronica Kemei, a resident of Uasin Gishu County called for this regime to be given more time.
“We are not pleased with the protest that is now going on. We as Kenyan citizens came up with this government and it is enough to rule a country with the leadership of his Excellency William Ruto. Azimio’s leader is making the hustling women struggle to bring food to their tables. You are telling these women to carry Sufurias on their heads. The economy you are saying is high, we found you and other wealthy people inside the government and it has been high from then.” added Veronicah Kemei resident of Uasin Gishu County.
