We Will Bring Down Numbers of GBV Cases In Bungoma – Deputy Governor Mbatiany

Bungoma Deputy Governor Pst. Janipher Mbatiany has said that Governor Lusaka’s Administration is determined to address the high teenage pregnancy, HIV/AIDS and gender based violence in the county.

Speaking at Sang’alo institute of science and technology on Monday during the tree planting exercise, in build up ahead of the world Aids day to be celebrated in Bungoma on Thursday, Mbatiany decried the worrying trend where older men defile young girls and end up infecting them with the deadly HIV/AIDS.

Mbatiany lauded President William Ruto for accepting to hold a national AIDS day in Bungoma county in order to create awareness to area residents about the surging number of victims.

“On Thursday we shall host our president William Ruto who will grace the national AIDS day, we have already started the conversation of addressing the high numbers of both Teenage and HIV/ AIDS, she said.

Mbatiany encouraged residents to plant more trees to increase the forest cover.

During the event 3,000 trees were planted at the institute.
