Wildlife Research & Training Institute Launches Strategic Plan 2023-2027
Today, at the Wildlife Research & Training Institute (WRTI) Headquarters, Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano EGH officiated the launch of the Institute’s reviewed Strategic Plan for the years 2023-2027. The new plan aims to enhance wildlife conservation efforts and bolster training initiatives, ensuring sustainable management of Kenya’s rich biodiversity.
During her address, CS Miano emphasized the importance of a strategic framework that aligns with national conservation goals and international best practices. “This Strategic Plan is not just a document; it is a commitment to safeguarding our wildlife heritage while empowering our communities through education and training,” she stated.
The revised plan outlines key objectives, including strengthening research capabilities, enhancing collaboration with stakeholders, and promoting community involvement in wildlife conservation. Miano highlighted that the success of the plan will depend on active participation from local communities, researchers, and policymakers.
“The future of our wildlife depends on our actions today. Together, we must prioritize conservation as a pillar of sustainable tourism and economic development,” she urged.
The launch was attended by various stakeholders in wildlife conservation, including representatives from local communities, NGOs, and international partners. The event marks a significant step toward ensuring that Kenya remains a leader in wildlife conservation and research.
