Elgeyo Marakwet governor now says Works on Kilang’ata-Chesongoch-Tot road to begin in January.

Speaking after hosting a team from the Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) for a Public Participation exercise Tolgos said,
It will also comprise Chesegon Bypass , a distance of 9 kilometers and Tot Loop Road 0.5Km).

The 16KM stretch is part of major Sh5.6 billion Barpello-Tot-Sigor-Marich Pass.

He noted that the new road will open up the place and spur development.
“We have seen how farmers in this region suffer due to poor roads. Their mangoes often go bad and with the road now being improved to bitumen standard, this will be a thing of the past”.

The road will comprise a parking yard at Tot and a peace monument.
China Railway Seventh Group in consortium with Three N International will be constructing the road. Its construction is expected to commence in January and expected to be ready by October 2024.

He said security issues will also be addressed once the road is completed.

Senator Kipchumba Murkomen thanked Kenha for giving full disclosure of the whole contract. “By doing a public participation the authority has shown a high level of transparency. ”
KENHA Chairman Wangai Ndirangu, thanked the local leadership for the joining them during the exercises.

He said: “Local leadership is the main link between our office and the community and with your support, this will move smoothly.”
