World Bank Mission Teams Up with Kenyan Government for Youth Advancement Project
In a concerted effort to bolster opportunities for youth advancement, the Micro Small Enterprises Authority (MSEA) in Kenya recently hosted a series of pivotal meetings with the World Bank Mission team. Led by Caroline Kioko, representing MSEA Director General & CEO Henry Rithaa, and Corporate Services Director Simon Nyamolo, the meetings aimed to pave the way for the implementation of the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) project.
The World Bank Mission, spearheaded by Task Team Leader Kevin Herania and Co-task Team Leader Federica Ricardi, convened with various government entities, including the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports (MOYASA), the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA), the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), and the National Employment Authority (NEA).
Commencing on May 27th, 2024, the mission meetings are scheduled to run until June 6th, 2024. Deliberations have centered around Component 2 of the NYOTA project, which targets empowering 110,000 youth across the 47 counties of Kenya through entrepreneurial support initiatives.
The discussions have focused on delineating core details essential for the successful rollout of the project, ensuring that it effectively addresses the diverse needs and aspirations of Kenya’s youth population. With the collaborative efforts of both government entities and the World Bank Mission, the NYOTA project aims to catalyze transformative change, offering tangible pathways for youth to thrive in the dynamic economic landscape of Kenya.
