Youths Warned Against Being Used by Politicians to Cause Violence
Youths have been urged not to allow themselves to be used by politicians to cause violence in the August polls.
Speaking to the press in Eldoret town Ian Kiplimo Koech a Student Pilot based in Johannesburg South Africa said youths should engage themselves in constructive activities.
“As we had to the August polls I want to call upon youths across the country to refrain from being used by politicians to cause violence but instead let’s engage in peaceful elections before during and after the August polls,” said Koech while speaking to the press.
He noted that youths should understand their roles and their rights of voting for their preferred candidate since its enshrined in the constitution.
“We should not allow ourselves to be used by politicians to cause violence in a particular place just because of politics, let’s be peace ambassadors let’s not fight or do anything that will harm your neighbor since at the end of the day we all need each other,” he added.
He called on youths to vote for leaders with agenda of helping them and not giving them handouts.
“Let’s avoid handouts elect people based on ideologies, listen to their manifestos, and agendas if they are going to help you as a community or individual, and let us vote for leaders who will transform your lives. Don’t just choose a leader because you know him as a person but ideas since he or she might not help a community and interest should be for the community,” he said.
He warned youths against fighting each other in the name of politics
“Politicians should also campaign in a peaceful manner and we should allow everyone to campaign despite his political party since everyone has the right. Kenyans let’s do politics in a. Peaceful manner, let’s learn from part,” he said.
“People in diaspora let’s be good ambassadors of the country and let’s come and vote since it’s our democratic move and you should participate in elections since bad leaders are elected by people who don’t vote,” he added.
